Working girl, before F&F A/W13

Look, if I go to an event with my camera and I KNOW I will be working there all night (and I don't even have such a big cam on my shoulders), I am the first one to wear trousers/leggins/oh, just make it all jeans (so chic right now anyway)/no heels/marine stripes/all black/big bag with all my stuff I might possibly need (closer to this version). Taken this into consideration, I admire every girl who is out to work in a chic outfit, ready for the London weather (the army inspired jacket, the hat), ready to throw away the jacket (keep the hat) and party afterwards (in a little white dress and a gold purse). But I am not giving up on myself, people do evolve, so one day I might just manage beautifully :-)

Nahlas priznávam, že keď sa niekam vyberiem s foťákom a VIEM, že budem celý večer fotiť (a to ani nemám "hento" na pleciach), môžete dať ruku aj s Marc Jacobs kabelkou do ohňa, že si v rámci praktickej pohodlnosti dám nohavice/legíny/rovno pôjdem v celodžínsovom (teraz je to aj tak chic)/bez opätkov/v pásikoch alebo celá čierna/s veľkou taškou pripravenou na všetky eventuality (niečo skôr na tento štýl). Vzhľadom na tento fakt vzhliadam k pracujúcim dievčatám, ktoré to zvládajú štýlovo nahodené, vždy pripravené, či už na londýnske počasie (military bunda, klobúk), alebo na moment, keď po práci odhodia bundu (nechajú si klobúk) a prežúrujú noc (v malých bielych a so zlatou kabelkou). Ale nelámem nad sebou palicu, človek je vývojaschopný v rôznych smeroch, a tak jedného dňa to možno tiež budem zvládať s väčším prehľadom :-)

It is always extremely exciting to see the works of fashion students (they often seem to be more daring or willing to take risks than designers who are making their living, one of the freedoms school gives you). So come and see this year's graduates of Bratislava's Academy of Fine Arts and Design, this Thursday inside the Bratislava castle, see you there :-)

Vidieť práce študentov módy je pre mňa vždy extra zaujímavé (často bývajú odvážnejší alebo uvoľnenejší ako dizajnéri, pre ktorých je móda už živobytím, je to jedna zo slobôd študentského stavu). Tohtoroční absolventi majú prehliadku už tento štvrtok, v priestoroch Bratislavského hradu, ak budete mať čas a chuť, vidíme sa :-)

Roberta again, London

So I've met Roberta for the second day in a row and personally I loved this outfit even more. This is her going out to the bus stop to meet me and buy macarons on the way. Even in London, her outfits turn heads and make people smile at her and compliment her on them (slightly different to turning heads in her native Prievidza...) The stunning dress is again from Beyond Retro in Dalston, complemented by little red details. And the little beret as a bonus. Have a beautiful week, my friends!

Robertu som mala to šťastie stretnúť dva dni po sebe a tento outfit sa mi páči možno ešte viac. Takto prišla na stretnutie na zastávu autobusu a kúpiť si makarónky. Ešte aj v Londýne sa za ňou ľudia otáčajú, usmievajú sa na ňu a skladajú jej komplimenty (aj keď je to troška iný spôsob otáčania hláv ako v rodnej Prievidzi...). Aj tieto nádherné šaty sú z Beyond Retro v Dalstone, doplnené červenými detailami. A baretka ako bonus. Krásny týždeň vám!

1. A selection of pictures from the first ever Fashion Trip of City Fashion Guide (a portal uniting information about local designers, their studios and design shops in Bratislava. The Vienna, Prague and Budapest versions are already in works). And once their mobile application will be out, it will be a great way for tourists to discover local designers and shops, a very cool idea.
Last week a bunch of journalist and bloggers were taken at the Fashion Trip which you can design for yourself, your friends or clients (this one was stopping at M.ona fashion store, Dana Kleinert's shop, Renáta Ormandíková's magic world, Carte Blanche concept store and Veronika Hložníková's atelier). Completed by a chauffered car, drinks and cakes, it was fabulous. You can order yours here.

Selekcia obrázkov z prvej Módnej cesty organizovanej portálom City Fashion Guide (združujúcom informácie a kontakty miestnych dizajnérov. Na viedeňskej, pražskej a budapeštianskej verzii sa už pracuje). A keď spustia mobilnú aplikáciu, bude to skvelý spôsob pre turistov ako nájsť v meste návrhárov, ich ateliéry a dizajnové obchody. Že to niekomu nenapadlo skôr. 
Minulý týždeň sa skupinka novinárov a blogerov vybrala na prvú Módnu cestu, ktorú si ktokoľvek môže zostaviť pre seba, svoje kamošky, klientov alebo zahraničných hostí (táto viedla cez M.ona fashion store, obchod Dany Kleinert, Krásu vesmírnu Renáty Ormandíkovej, Carte Blanche concept store a ateliér Veroniky Hložníkovej). Prebiehala za pomoci mikrobusu so šoférom, drinkami a koláčikmi, vešmi úspešne teda :-) Módna cesta sa dá objednať tu aha.

Apropó koláčiky. Tie na Módnej ceste boli od hedonistickej Zuzanky z Hedonist Klubu.

Roberta at Beyond Retro, London

 

Apparently one of the coolest places to go to shop in London is the Beyond Retro chain of second hand and vintage shops (if you love thrifting), the coolest of them all being their recently opened shop in Dalston. They definitely have a very laid-back, retro styled café right in the shop (plus Dalston is worth the trip). That is where we met Roberta, the dreaming girl from Slovakia (and another time and place). She works there, so if you stop by, say "Hello, darling!" She's been living in London for two years where her love for vintage clothes and lifestyle has flourished. Would you say she plays drums? Life is full of surprises... Oh, you might have known her blog or FB page.

Vraj jedno z top miest na nakupovanie (ak máte radi sekáče) je londýnska sieť vintage obchodov Beyond Retro, a úplne najviac hip z nich je posledne otvorený shop vo štvrti Dalston, naozaj plný neskutočných úlovkoch. Plus majú veľmi príjemnú kaviareň priamo v shope, kde sme sa stretli s Robertou, snílkom zo Slovenska (a vlastne aj iného sveta a časopriestoru). Roberta v tejto pobočke Beyond Retro pracuje (ak sa zastavíte, slušne pozdravte), a žije už dva roky v Londýne, kde jej láska k vintage oblečeniu a kultúre môže prekvitať v plnej kráse. A povedali by ste, že hrá na bicie? Ak sa vám zdá známa, možno ste poznali jej blog alebo momentálne funkčnú FB stránku.

Oversized, London

One of my favorite outfits from London's streets. Slim, layered black dress with see-throught details combined with an oversized men's jacket (from ebay) plus the tucked in hair (it's a trend, really). As seen in Shoreditch on our way to Dalston, check that area out if you get the chance. Next up something special from Dalston.

Jeden z mojich obľúbených outfitov z londýnskych ulíc. Jednoduché, vrstvené čierne šaty s priehľadným detailom v kombinácii s nadrozmerným pánskym sakom (z ebay), plus vlasy za/v/pod golierom (je to trend, fakt). Videné za ceste zo Shoreditch do Dalstonu, fascinujúce miesta, odporúčam. Nabudúce niečo špéci z Dalstonu.

Recently got back from a short trip to Londontown and here a secret local tip: The Bridge Cafe on Kingsland Road 15 in Shoreditch. Feels like a movie scene where you can totally lose track of time. They have no web of FB page, so just look into the map :-) Other tips are highly clickable:

1. If you ever get the chance, go and experience a Secret Cinema event. We did in London. It was very unique, can't tell you more about it though, it's secret, ssssh!
Ak budete mať niekedy šancu, choďte si zažiť Secret Cinema. My sme si to dali v Londýne, ale fungujú aj v iných mestách. Je to neskutočné, ale viac vám o tom nemôžem povedať, je to tajné predsa, pst!

Adela, Prague

Since I discovered her blog, I enjoy following the evolution of her style. Despite her young age she has very sophisticated choices (geeez, where was I at 20. Lost in my dad's oversized pullover and at the university's library and just generally... lost). I like her soft simplicity that's pleasing to the eye. There is just simply something about Adela :-)

Odkedy som objavila jej blog, baví ma sledovať prejavy jej štýlu. Napriek nízkemu veku má jemnocit pre túto oblasť zrejme vrodený (booože, kde som ja bola, keď som mala 20, stratená v nejakom oversized pulovri od otca a vo vysokoškolskej knižnici, a tak celkovo... stratená). Páči sa mi jej zmysel pre jednoduchosť, takú tú mäkkú, ženskú, ktorá lahodí oku. Na tej Adele proste niečo je :-)

At the Lazy Eye Boudoir, Prague

 

Finally, on a short trip to Prague with my friend Katarína, I got to visit the Lazy Eye Boudoir, the land of well fitting dresses inspired by the 40's and 50's, with big skirts, tight tops and a whole lot of retro charm. The owner Hanka was in London at the time of our visit (just where I write this article from right now, ha), so we were assisted by a helpful young man. I love the whole story of the Lazy Eye, their one of a kind unique dresses and how this retro wave got picked up by women desiring to be beautiful and feminine in another way. Tak konečne. Počas krátkeho výletu do Prahy s kamarátkou Katarínou, som sa dostala na návštevu Lazy Eye Boudoiru, čarovného miesta dobre sadnúcich šiat inšpirovaných strihmi zo 40-tych a 50-tych rokov, s veľkými sukňami, priliehavými vrchmi a megadávkou retro šarmu. Hanka Lazy Eye bola počas našej návštevy práve v Londýne (odkiaľ pre zmenu teraz píšem tento článok, ha), a tak nám robil asistenta milý mladý muž. Príbeh Lazy Eye ma fascinuje, ronvako ako ich originálne kusovky, ako to, ako sa táto vlna lásky k retru uchytila a nesie sa na snoch žien túžiacich po kráse a ženskosti iného druhu. Šaty a celý príbeh nájdete tu, aha.
